Okay, admit it,  when you first started playing the SIMS 2, you thought that load up video with that wavy haired girl changing outfits was cute the first 20 or so times.

But now, you hit enter to skip it, or else finish your homework whilst your game takes forever to load.

Well no more! Here is a very easy tutorial on how you can train your game not to show that silly start up video ever again.  Yes, don't run away folks, it really is an easy tutorial.

1) Go to where you've installed your SIMS 2 game

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Movies

2)In that folder, you will see a file named

intro_eng_audio (the "eng" may be something else, depending on what language you've installed your game in.)

3)Move that file out of the folder altogether (like onto your desktop or something)

4) Now Start your game, and you will now see that it will go straight into loading the game without showing that intro movie

5)Pat yourself on the back as you've successfully modded your game!  Good SHOW!

Ok, you just knew it would be me that would have a problem with this didn't you?  Cheesy
I must be special because, after copying the tutorial and printing it out and reading it 3 times, I removed the file you identified and the movie ran anyway.  So I went back and removed the file that had a similar code except it had the letters 'logo' in it.  Guess what, I still have the same introduction movie.  Maybe my universe spins differently?   Smiley Smiley Smiley

*Joe bangs his head on the desk a few times*  I think it may be an issue since you've got SIMS 2 Deluxe edition.  Perhaps when you speak with me again in the stream or someting, you could help me out a bit, since I am not sure how SIMS 2 Deluxe installs itself.  With your help, I may be able to write a tutorial for those who have that edition.

Poor head!
Just to be clear this is the delux edition that first came out.  It was the base and nightlife together.  I wondered if I had removed one and there were more in each EP but couldn't find any folders for the rest of them.  All of the eps are listed in my 'all programs' list that pops up with the start button.   I have Vista too so maybe it stores things just a little different.  Yeah, that's right, lets blame Vista.  Actually my grandson told me to just push esc and it goes to the load screen quickly enough.  I just tried this so I could learn more about the game and my computer.   Smiley

Hence a saying amongst my friends and myself: "Friends don't let friends use Vista."  Even my wife got fed up with Vista her new laptop, and she had her computer converted to run on Windows XP instead.

Your grandson has a good solution though, hitting esc or enter does make it skip the intro movie.  The drawback is that you can't simply click your game to start without clicking it again to stop the introduction movie.

I do wonder where it stores it in Vista though.  If you can, run a search, and tell me all the places that "intro_eng_audio" movie is placed.  I know in XP, getting rid of it in the base game folder is sufficient.  Who knows where Windoze Vestige sneaks it eh?

The only one that appears on my search it the file on my desktop.  Could it be that it is really an icon and the program is still 'attached' someway to the game?  I know the icon isn't in the movies file anymore.
